BJJ sites aren’t always the “prettiest” pages on the internet. Most of us are passionate about the sport – but not quite as passionate about graphics and design. Though he didn’t mention it, I’d argue that Jesse Gray (chief editor at LapelChoke.com) has a healthy love for both.
A purple belt and competition fiend, Jesse works primarily for the love of the sport. And it shows, Lapel has an exceptionally clean, well-organized look and feel. I particularly like the sections “Mat Monsters” and “Old School Fights.”
Secretly, I’m crossing my fingers that these sections grow fast.
Jesse’s Purpose for ‘Lapel Choke’
A high-minded ground-fighter, Jesse has big plans for the positive impact of his website. Here’s Jesse:
My ultimate, long term goal for the site is to use any revenue that I generate through advertising to help fund a Jiu Jitsu program for inner city kids in Philadelphia. I have a couple close training partners who are working towards this goal with me. I really admire people like Cicero Costha who have had similar programs and successes in Brazil and I would like to bring that to the States. Giving back the sport of Jiu Jitsu, I believe, is the ultimate pay off.
Awesome.
Check out the highlight on the Mat Monsters, it will change your life.
Keep learning, train hard,
