At a certain point I started watching more competitive matches over instructionals – not because I think I’m so good that I don’t need them, but for the following reasons:
- I like to see what works in real matches and what my favorite grapplers do when it counts
- I get a lot out of seeing patterns from real matches, and watching how strings of counters or techniques ultimately make sense in terms of willing
- I can find pretty much any match I want at BJJ Fights
My friends Paulo Canabarro and Radhames Familia head the site up (Radhames and I are also mortal enemies on the mat), and this is the basic gist of it:
Put together all the BJJ matches on the internet in a big, searchable library, categorized and organized.
Literally its an amazing resource. I just watched a match of Bruno Malficine tearing some guy up(what else is new) – and I can go right over to “Classics” and watch Roger fight Jacare.
The site is categorized by type of competition, belt rank, weight class, and more. I think its a necessary reference tool for any competitor or anyone interested in maximizing their potential. I don’t come close to saying that about most websites, but with BJJ Fights, I do.
Its mandatory to check this site out – seriously.
Have fun, keep learning, and happy grappling,
